Indian Law Institute is going to conducting the Common Admission Test for admission in the post-graduate-level program in the field of law – Master of Laws (LLM), a two-year full time course after the test, a merit list is prepared based on the performance of the candidates in the entrance test. Paper One – Jurisprudence
Nature and Scope of Jurisprudence (the Ancient Indian Legal Thought and the Early Greek Theories), School of Legal Theory and Legal Concepts.

Paper Two – Judicial Process
Independence of Judiciary, Hierarchy of Courts, Individual and the State, Doctrine of Stare Decisis, Interpretation of Constitution, Appointment of Judges, Judicial Reasoning, Ratio Decidendi and Obiter Dicta of a case, Value Judgments in Law and Interpretation of Statutes.

Paper Three – Legal Research and Methodology
Legal Research in India, Legal Research and Law Reform, Law and Logic, Different Kinds of Legal Research, Techniques of Legal Research, Tools of Legal Research, and Sources of Information in Legal Research.

ILICAT 2024 Examination Pattern

Before appearing for the exam, the candidates must have knowledge about the examination pattern of the Indian Law Institute Common Admission Test. The entrance test is divided into three parts, which are given in the following lines.

Part One
Part one of the entrance test carries only multiple-choice type questions. Each question contains four answers in which the student has to find out the correct one. The questions in this part are generally asked from the subjects of English and General Knowledge. ¼ mark is deducted for each wrong answer.


Part Two
The second part of the question paper also consists of objective-type questions. The candidates have to answer the correct option out of the given four options. The questions are generally based on the law subjects including jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, IPC, Commercial Laws (Contract, Partnership, and Sale of Goods Act), and Family Law. There is a provision of negative marking in this part, that is, one-fourth mark is deducted for each wrong answer.

Part Three

The third part of the entrance test consists of subjective type questions, which are asked from the law stream. The candidates are required to answer in not more than 150 words. The questions are asked from the subjects of jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, IPC, Commercial Laws (Contract, Partnership and Sale of Goods Act), and Family Law.


Viva-Voce
The candidates who have successfully passed the ILI CAT Exam are short-listed to appear for Viva-Voce. It is conducted at the campus of the Indian Law Institute. For final selection, a merit list is prepared on the basis of the marks of the candidates in both written tests and viva-voce.
